Chandigarh | April 1| Kapil Gaur : Residents of Ambala Cantonment have welcomed the decision to allocate ₹50 lakh for installing a statue of B. R. Ambedkar at 12 Cross Road. The funding was approved by Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij, drawing appreciation from people in the area.
A group of residents from 12 Cross Road, Ambedkar Nagar, Mochi Mandi and nearby localities met the minister to express their gratitude for approving the funds through his discretionary quota. During the meeting, supporters also raised slogans praising Dr. Ambedkar and the minister.
Statue to Be Installed at Prominent Location
Local civic leaders, including Municipal Council Vice-President Lalita Prasad and former councillors, said the financial approval will help install a grand statue of Dr. Ambedkar at a key site in Ambala Cantonment. Community members described the development as a proud moment for the area and said the decision fulfills a long-standing demand from residents.
Officials confirmed that the sanctioned amount has been released to the Municipal Council, Ambala Sadar, and preparations for the statue installation are expected to start soon.
IMA Ambala Cantt Unit Meets Minister
Earlier the same day, representatives of the newly formed Ambala Cantonment unit of the Indian Medical Association also met Minister Anil Vij. The delegation informed him about the formation of the unit and discussed important healthcare issues affecting the region.
The minister congratulated the newly appointed office bearers, including Patron Dr. R.K. Aneja, President Dr. Jitendra Aggarwal and Secretary Dr. Janak Raj Saini. He assured the association of support in addressing medical and public health matters in Ambala Cantonment.
Several members of the association and local representatives were present during the meeting.
